According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey imported a total of around 403,300 tons of billet and bloom in the first three months of this year, falling by 56.2% compared to the same period a year ago. These imports were worth roughly US$$284.8, a year-on-year decrease of 44.4%.
Among them, the top three import sources were Russia (around 168,600 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 67.2%), Ukraine (around 85,000 tons, a year-on-year drop of 49.5%), and Oman (around 45,700 tons, a year-on-year increase of 22.5%).
In March alone, Turkey's billet and bloom imports totaled around 88,000 tons, down by 43% month on month and by 74% year on year. The import value was about US$68.7 million, a month-on-month drop of 34.3% and a year-on-year decline of 66%.
