According to data from Korea Iron and Steel Association (KOSA), South Korea’s thick plate exports were around 124,000 tons in May, a month-on-month increase of 9.6% and a year-on-year increase of 62.9%.In the given period, South Korea imported thick plates with about 168,000 tons, growing by 18.7% month on month and increasing by 138.6% year on year.
Compared to the same period of last year, in the first five months of this year, the thick plates imports of South Korea soared by 173.9% to about 714,000 tons. Among them, imports from Japan and China were around 468,000 tons and 236,000 tons, accounting for 65.5% and 33.1% of South Korea’s total thick plates imports.
