ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) said it has decided to invest 410 billion rupees to build two blast furnaces and other facilities at its Hazira plant, expanding the production capacity of crude steel by 6 million tons per year, in order to meet the growing steel demand in India and gain greater market share.
With the expansion project, the Hazira plant’s annual production capacity will rise to approximately 15 million tons. These facilities were scheduled to start operation in 2026.
In addition, AM/NS India is also considering setting up a new steel mill in eastern India, while continuing to expand the Hazira plant's capacity to even more than 15 million tons.
