According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in the first eight months of this year, Turkey's hot-rolled coil (HRC) exports totaled around 1.1 million tons, dropping by 25.5% compared to the corresponding period a year ago.
The export volume was worth around US$1.01 billion during the period, a year-on-year decrease of 13.8%.
Among them, the top three export destinations were Egypt (around 211,000 tons, a year-on-year surge of 392.2%), Italy (around 204,200 tons, a year-on-year drop of 47.3%), and Bulgaria (around 94,800 tons, a year-on-year jump of 129.6%).
In August alone, Turkey exported roughly 111,400 tons of HRC, down by 38% month on month and by 57% year on year. The export value was US$88.5 million, a month-on-month decrease of 49% and a year-on-year drop of 66%.
