According to customs statistics, Japan’s scrap exports amounted to 5.4 million tons in the first ten months of this year, dropping by 15.3% compared to the year-ago level.
Among them, the exports to South Korea accounted for the largest proportion, totaling 2.7 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 2.4%. Vietnam ranked second with 1.2 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 38.6%; followed by Taiwan's 483,500 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 8.3%.
In October alone, Japan exported around 658,000 tons of scrap, up by 28% compared to the same month last year.
