U.S. Steel Corporation will start producing its new electrical steel product, InduX™, at its Big River Steel facility in the summer of 2023. The InduX™ steel is ultra-thin, lightweight, and has all the magnetic properties necessary for electric vehicles, generators, and transformers. The better the magnetic properties, the better the motor efficiency, and the more mileage an electric vehicle can achieve.
The new non-grain oriented (NGO) electrical steel line at Big River Steel in Osceola, Arkansas, will produce up to 200,000 short tons of InduX™ steel per year when fully operational, with expected capital expenditures of approximately $450 million funded by cash generated from Big River Steel.
