According to customs statistics, Japan’s scrap exports amounted to 2.24 million tons in the first four months of this year, rising by 6.8% compared to the year-ago level.
Among them, the exports to South Korea accounted for the largest proportion, totaling 962,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 21%. Vietnam ranked second with 576,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 31.2%; followed by Taiwan's 282,000 tons, a year-on-year surge of 95.8%.
In April alone, Japan exported around 560,000 tons of scrap, down by 15.7% compared to the same month last year.
